MAGPARTS is a well-organized foundry operation located in 100,000 square feet of buildings on approximately three and a half acres of land in the city of Azusa, California, twenty miles east of Los Angeles. We produce premium quality magnesium and aluminum castings.
Our modern aluminum sand foundry has over 33,000 square feet of manufacturing space with melting capacity of up to 20,000 pounds per day. This recently completed facility includes both dry sand and green sand molding systems. Other features are an automated dry sand conditioning and delivery systems. Our core making capabilities include no-bake, cold box, and shell core methods. Castings as heavy as 125 pounds net weight and up to 6 feet in length or width can be produced.
Our permanent mold foundry has been combined with the new sand foundry to gain efficiency in our melting operations and share the advantages of our new core making operations. The foundry is capable of supporting horizontal and vertically parted molds mounted on tilt machines and standard bases, both hydraulic and manually operated. Castings up to 90 pounds net weight in aluminum can be produced. We are also able to support magnesium permanent mold requirements in our magnesium foundry.
The magnesium sand foundry is housed in 14,500 square feet and has a melting capacity of 10,000 pounds per day. The foundry includes both green sand and dry sand molding operations, automated core making, and an efficient flux-less melting and pouring system for improved casting quality. Sand castings up to 100 pounds net weight can be produced. This melting operation also supports manufacture of investment and permanent mold castings to meet your advanced magnesium requirements.
The investment foundry is housed in 6,500 square feet. We are capable of pouring aluminum and magnesium investment castings up to 20 pounds net weight and 24 square inches in size. Our magnesium investment casting capability is the result of several years of research and development and is unique in the industry.
In house support activities include a pattern shop, aluminum and magnesium heat treating operations, non-destructive testing, mechanical testing, spectrochemical analysis, precision CMM dimensional inspection, machining, targeting, assembly, quality assurance and shipping and receiving. These departments occupy another 44,000 square feet within our plant.
An additional service that MAGPARTS offers is to supply completely finished parts. Any of the castings we produce can be supplied fully machined and processed through plating, painting, and assembly as required. Our customers can place one order and receive parts ready to be used in their end product. Many of our customers are currently taking advantage of this service.
Our dedicated product development team is responsible for an accurate and timely transition of your component from tool fabrication to production. Our in-house pattern shop supports this effort with manufacture of new tooling, repair, refurbishment and gating. We have teamed with several of the finest tool shops in the world to meet your needs.
We presently cast many different aluminum alloys that include A201, A206, A356, 356, A357, C355, 319 and 535. We have made significant mechanical strength advancements in the A201 alloy.
We presently cast magnesium alloys AZ91C, AZ91E, AZ92A, EZ33A, and ZE41A.
We actively support our customer's R&D efforts in developmental aluminum and magnesium alloy systems and advanced manufacturing processes.
Approximately 90% of MAGPARTS business is done with major aircraft, aerospace and defense companies.
